Student Ambassador Program
Why should I join PTA/PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association)?
PTA/PTSA membership gets you a seat at the table with school decision-makers: Parents, school leaders, and community members. At all levels, but especially the secondary grade level, student voices must participate in conversation as equal members with an equal vote. That’s why you should add PTA/PTSA to your student leadership resume.
What is the Allen Park High School PTSA Student Ambassador Program?
Students who become PTSA members at Allen Park High School and want to extend their PTSA involvement beyond basic membership should accept a Student Ambassador role. Student Ambassadors work with adult mentors to develop and implement PTSA programs. Student Ambassadors choose one or more PTSA programs or committees to support or lead. Student Ambassadors may also represent the PTSA at various PTSA functions and distribute information at PTSA tables during school functions.
What are the benefits of becoming a Student Ambassador?
· Gain experience in leadership, advocacy, public speaking, teamwork, and event planning.
· Earn extra points for the Allen Park PTA/PTSA Council Scholarship.
· Include Student Ambassador leadership experience on a résumé, college application or job application.
Do I need to go to PTSA meetings?
It may be helpful to attend some PTSA meetings, but it is not necessary. You are encouraged to attend when you can.
Do I have time to be an ambassador?
This program must never interfere with your schoolwork. You can be flexible and decide what functions you are able to help with. You are never expected to do it all yourself; adult PTSA members will mentor all Student Ambassadors.
